BEIJING: Describing India's $1 billion aid to Mongolia as a "bribe", China's official media today said that there may be "endless trouble" in Sino-India ties if New Delhi viewed China's cargo service with Nepal as a threat to the sale of Indian goods.
Highlighting China's efforts to step up rail-road connectivity with Nepal, an article in the state-run Global Times said India is also boosting its relations with China's neighbour Mongolia with a USD one billion "bribe".
It emphasised that India reportedly said last week that it would help Mongolia use $1 billion of aid offered in 2015 to overcome its current financial and economic crisis after Mongolia sought clear support from India against 'China's blockade', in reaction to the visit of the Dalai Lama to Ulaanbaatar.
"China won't be overly sensitive about India's cooperation with Mongolia, and won't mistake India's assistance as a counter to China," the article said.
"Mongolia's economy is highly dependent on China, with more than 90 percent of its imports and exports traded directly with China. As such, China's influence on Mongolia's economy cannot be replaced by India in the short run, and efforts will be in vain if India attempts to 'bribe' Mongolia's loyalty with only USD one billion," it said.
The $1 billion credit line was offered to Mongolia during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit in May last year which is expected to be availed by Ulaanbaatar.
Defending the new rail-road cargo route via Tibet to Nepal which launched on Friday, the article said it will boost trade with Nepal as China pushes forward with its Belt and Road (Silk Road) initiative.
Last Friday, dozens of trucks carrying USD 2.8 million worth of products such as clothes, appliances, electronics and building materials left the Chinese border for their destination in Nepal. The new rail and road cargo service, links Guangdong, Tibet and Nepal, official media reported.
"But the move doesn't mean that Chinese goods will push Indian products out of the country. In fact, when it comes to cooperation with other countries, both China and India should refrain from excessive sensitivity," the article said.
"Additionally, in May, China started a rail and road cargo service to the South Asian country as a means to shorten the time spent in sea transport," it said.
"There may be endless trouble in the future if India views efforts to facilitate the export of goods from China's enterprises as a potential threat to the sale of India-made products in Nepal," it added.
Last week, another article in the same daily had warned Mongolia that, "It is even more politically harebrained to ask for support from India, a move that will only complicate the situation and leave a narrower space to sort the issue out. We hope the crisis-hit Mongolia will learn its lessons."
Mentioning the construction of a new railway line, the article stated, "Strategic suspicion has prompted some people to overly interpreted China and India's respective cooperation with another country," it said.
"China is likely to welcome India to expand its influence through more active participation in regional economic affairs to promote positive development of areas around China. Hopefully India could also adopt an open-minded attitude toward China's cooperation with South Asian countries," it added.

BEIJING: China's richest man, owning a $92 billion empire, today said he is looking for a successor, most likely from a group of professional managers, to take over his business after his son declined to be his heir apparent.
"I have asked my son about the succession plan, and he said he does not want to live a life like I do," Mr Wang was quoted as saying by Hong Kong's South-China Morning Post at China Entrepreneurs Summit.
Wang Jianlin, 62, founder and chairman of Dalian Wanda Group Co, whose business includes shopping malls, theme parks, sports clubs and cinemas, said he is most likely to pick from a group of professional managers to take over the running of his business.
"Perhaps young people have their own quests and priorities. Probably it will be better to hand over to professional managers and we sit on the board and see them run the company," he said.
The wealthy scions of China's billionaire entrepreneurs, known as fu'erdai are increasingly striking different paths, as more than three decades of break-neck economic growth and overseas education have given them different experiences, world view and aspirations from their parents.
More than 80 per cent of Chinese heirs are not keen on assuming the reins of their parents' businesses, a survey by the Shanghai Jiaotong University, covering 182 of the country's top family-run companies said.
Some were backing off due to intense pressures, while others simply were pursuing other career interests, study by the association of Chinese private enterprises showed, the Post report said.
Dalian Wanda, founded in the port city of Dalian in 1988, is the epitome of China's rags-to-wealth story, where it grew from a small property developer into a conglomerate operating malls, hotels, theme parks and the world's largest chain of movie cinemas.
In the process, it's made Mr Wang and his only son immensely wealthy.
Mr Wang, who visited India and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi had committed to invest about $10 billion in a Chinese project in Haryana.
Following a worldwide buying spree that added AMC Entertainment, the Hoyts Group and Odeon and UCI Cinemas, Mr Wanda now operates the world's largest chain of cinemas, with more than 10,000 screens.
It also owns hotels operated by Westin and Sofitel, as well as shopping malls and plans to build as many as 15 multibillion-yuan theme parks around the country.
After snapping up stakes in European football clubs, Wanda is now turning its sights on Hollywood, announcing plans to purchase Dick Clark Productions in November that granted it the broadcasting rights to Golden Globe Awards.

The most expensive weapons program in American military history just got its most powerful critic: President-elect Donald Trump.
The incoming commander-in-chief took aim Monday at the costly F-35 fighter jet program on Twitter, after earlier calling out the program during a Fox News interview.
"The F-35 program and cost is out of control," Trump tweeted. "Billions of dollars can and will be saved on military (and other) purchases after [Inauguration Day] January 20th."
The complaints echo the charges Trump leveled last week against another major government venture. Trump last Tuesday blasted Boeing for the projected bill of a new fleet of Air Force One planes.
In taking on the controversial F-35, Trump is picking a fight with another contractor giant, Lockheed Martin.
Trump also criticized the program during an interview with Chris Wallace on “Fox News Sunday.”
“If you look at the F-35 program with the money, the hundreds of billions of dollars, and it’s out of control,” Trump said. “And the people that are making these deals for the government, they should never be allowed to go to work for these companies.”
While Trump had called for a cancellation of Boeing’s Air Force One replacement deal, he didn’t go that far with the F-35, instead shining a light on the nearly $400 billion endeavor that is already four years behind schedule. The initial costs to produce the more than 2,400 jets to be bought by the U.S. -- and 600 more by other nations -- have almost doubled since the undertaking began 15 years ago.

“We look forward to working with the president-elect and his administration to further build on the F-35 program’s record of demonstrated performance and affordability,” a Lockheed Martin spokesman told The Wall Street Journal after Trump’s Sunday remarks.
Lockheed Martin’s shares dropped 2.6 percent in premarket trade after Trump tweeted at 8:26 a.m., Reuters reported. Other manufacturers with stakes in the F-35 experienced similar early drops.
Trump’s criticism of the F-35 puts him in the company of sometime-rivals such as Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., who in April referred to the program as “a scandal and a tragedy.”
Pentagon officials also have been criticized as giving “misleading” answers to congressional critics of the F-35 in an effort to paint the program in a positive light, according to an internal November memo from the director of operational test and evaluation published Wednesday by Bloomberg.

Anthony Joshua makes the second defence of his world heavyweight title tonight against challenger Eric Molina.
Joshua has barely put a foot wrong since turning professional in 2013 and will be confident of winning his 18th successive fight.
He has so far knocked out each of his opponents and Molina is expected to go the same way in Manchester.
The American has failed at the top level before - succumbing to hard-hitting Deontay Wilder - but has promised to put up a fight.
On the undercard, Dereck Chisora and Dillian Whyte will settle their rivalry after a bitter build-up.
The fight was on the verge of being cancelled after Chisora threw a table at his opponent at the press conference, but in the end he got away with a two-year suspended ban and a £25,000 fine.

Classy Kal Yafai becomes first world champion from Birmingham
Kal Yafai became the first world champion from Birmingham by outclassing former two-weight world champion Luis Concepcion to capture the WBA World super flyweight title.
The Brummie fighter grasped his chance on the Anthony Joshua vs Eric Molina undercard against the seasoned Panamanian, dumping him on the canvas in the 10th round.
The judges all gave the fight to the 27-year-old - 120-108, 119-108, 117-110 - who remains unbeaten and moves to 21-0.
The precision of Yafai’s left hook was admirable from the first bell as he looked to achieve what he described in the build-up as his destiny.
As good as Yafai was, former champion Concepcion was desperately disappointing after failing to make weight and could not adjust after the Brit’s quick start, leaving his right too low throughout the fight.
Too easy for Yafai
Yafai too good here and is strolling towards victory.
Concepcion off balance in the 10th and dumped to the canvas by a flurry from Yafai.
Special performance by the Brummie, who will pick up the WBA strap but for a miracle from the Panamanian.

Conor Benn knocks out Steve Backhouse after just 66 seconds as he maintains unbeaten record
Conor Benn wasted no time knocking out Steve Backhouse in the pair’s welterweight clash in Manchester.
Benn was straight out swinging from the bell, knocking down Backhouse after less than 30 seconds with an on-the-money left hook.
Backhouse was allowed to carry on, but he didn’t last much longer as Benn swarmed him with a series of blows. After Backhouse went down for a second time in the round, the referee stepped in and waved the fight off.
The whole fight lasted for just 66 seconds, as Benn failed to get a meaningful workout as he secured the sixth win out of six in his young career.
Round 7: It's OVER!
Ortiz stops Allen with a barrage of punches and the referee finally waives it off.
A mismatch from the start, but that was a punishing round as the Cuban let his hands go and began to land some punishing shots. Tough on Allen, but that was for his own good.

Allen’s chin soaking up the punishment, which is not a good thing given his inability to win this fight.
Ortiz should really step on the gas here and try take him out.
Allen looks for a breather by complaining about another low blow and he gets a moment’s break.

Allen complains after a low shot from Ortiz and the referee calls time briefly.

The Cuban is imposing his strength by leaning on his opponent and measuring him for combinations with the jab.

Other notable clashes are Kal Yafai’s bout with Luis Concepcion for the vacant WBA super-flyweight title, Scott Quigg’s WBA international featherweight championship clash with Jose Cayetano, Katie Taylor vs Viviane Obenauf and also Dillian Whyte vs Dereck Chisora, which will be a nice, quiet, low key affair. Not.

Barry McGugian's take: This is a mismatch
Eric Molina is a good man. His work with disabled kids back home in Texas is admirable, but as an opponent for IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua he does not cut the mustard.
Some credibility is derived from taking WBC champion Deontay Wilder into the ninth round last year.
A better barometer is the first round KO he suffered against Chris Arreola back in 2012. That is what we are looking at in Manchester tonight and it is not what Joshua needs.
Joshua is some talent and great for the game. The 27-year-old has power to burn, is an exceptional athlete, has a great physique and is good-looking with it.
But this is not a beauty contest. It’s boxing and he remains something of an identikit fighter.

Good afternoon folks, how are we all doing on this bleak, midwinter Saturday?
As the rain lashes down and the shops are far too busy of Christmas shoppers to comprehend visiting, it’s an afternoon/evening taylor-made for watching live sport.
And what fare than an evening of boxing to whet your whistle?
Anthony Joshua’s clash with Eric Molina is our headline bout, with the 2012 Olympic champion heavy favourite to successfully defend his IBF heavyweight crown against the American.
Joshua weighed in almost a stone heavier than Molina as the pair came face-to-face for the final time before the first bell on later tonight.
Joshua was six pounds heavier than for his first world title defence against Dominic Breazeale in June.
He tipped the scales at 17st 11lb in Manchester, compared to Molina’s 16st 9lb.
The Londoner is bidding to win his 18th successive fight since turning professional as he puts his IBF heavyweight belt on the line.
And he told Sky Sports: “Someone is going to be shedding tears.
“That’s what people want to see. That’s why people are coming out, because they like to hear the thud of the punches, the technique, and they want to see if this is the man to go on and rule the heavyweight division.
“They are seeing if this man has the potential. I’ll just reveal a bit of it to them, from there on get this W and then we move onto a massive 2017.”
